Q: Europe is looking to diversify its trade and commercial partnerships with countries such as India. How do you see Slovenia building closer ties with India, particularly after your return as prime minister?
Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša: India is a big market, and in many areas it is compatible with the European market. Slovenia is part of the European Union, so we are interested in close cooperation.
We held discussions with your prime minister a few years ago, during the COVID period, when we began concrete talks about the possibilities for cooperation. Some of those opportunities have been explored since then. We are prepared to contribute as much as possible.

Q: Europe is supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, while U.S. President Donald Trump has made critical remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Do you think Europe can establish greater strategic autonomy and manage its security without American military support and cooperation?
Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša: This is an unfortunate situation, but it is not the first time we have faced something like this. Remember what happened at the first White House meeting after the meeting between the American and Russian presidents.
Somehow, after those misunderstandings, we found solutions for further cooperation. Frankly speaking, without American military and intelligence assistance, the situation in Ukraine could become much more difficult
