“That’s so nice. Thank you so much,” Eisenberg said when told about his popularity among Indian and Bollywood cinema fans.

“My dream would be to go promote a movie in India, and I keep asking, and I would like to be there at some point,” he added.

Eisenberg, known for films including The Social Network and Zombieland, said he remained keen to bring his work to the country, pointing to the opportunity to engage directly with Indian audiences.

Eisenberg was in Toronto to promote The Debut, his latest film as writer and director, which premiered at TIFF.

The 2026 comedy-drama stars Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, alongside Halle Bailey and Eisenberg himself.

The film follows Mona Friedman, played by Moore, a middle-aged New Jersey housewife who feels trapped in her everyday life. When she auditions for a local community theatre musical despite having no stage experience, she unexpectedly lands a role and discovers a new sense of purpose.

India has also become an important stop on the global promotional circuit for major international releases, with stars and filmmakers travelling to the country to connect with fans and expand the reach of their films.

During the conversation, Eisenberg also referred to The Odyssey, noting that the film had undertaken promotional activities in India.

“I know The Odyssey did promotion there,” he said.

Eisenberg’s remarks underline his interest in visiting India and meeting audiences who have supported his work. While he did not announce any confirmed travel plans, the actor made clear that promoting a film in the country remains a personal ambition.
